LIAM HUGHES,
ARTIST/DESIGNER

I began producing shard jewelry
as a an experiment to recycle some damaged antique china with friends in 2002. The
tests were well-received and Lamplighter Studio was
born.
I've spend many
hours mastering my craft and have expanded my collection to include
pins, pendants, bracelets and custom beadwork sets (the beadwork is designed by
my good friend and fellow artist CJ Iglinski).
Twice a year, I unveil my new
collections at Spring and Winter Shows held every April and December.
Meanwhile, I also sell my work at select craft shows, private home
showings and now online.
BEFORE LAMPLIGHTER STUDIO
I was born in the town of
Ishpeming in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (Home of Da Yoopers Tourist
Trap, the Michigan Iron Industry Museum and the U.S. Ski Hall of
Fame). After high school, I studied art history and music at the
School Sisters of Notre Dame in
Belmont, California and later received my Bachelor in Arts from Portland
State University in Portland, Oregon.
After relocating to Grand
Junction, Colorado, for a number of years, I returned to Ishpeming and
ran my own a stained glass studio for eight years. In the studio, I
sold custom-designed work and taught classes. I now split my time
between my jewelry studio in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and my guesthouse in County Tipperary, Ireland (www.knockahopple.com).
